TOM MORELLO's Collaboration With CYPRESS HILL Arrives At Rock Radio
February 26, 2010The Pulse of Radio reports: Rap-rock pioneers CYPRESS HILL return to the rock radio airwaves this coming week with "Rise Up", the title track of the group's first new album in six years. The track was co-written and co-produced by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello, who also plays on the track. CYPRESS HILL MC Sen Dog told The Pulse of Radio why the combination of Morello's guitar and CYPRESS HILL's style works perfectly. "Well, it works with Tom Morello and CYPRESS HILL because it's two iconic sounds," he said. "No matter what song, or what group Tom may be playing with, the first time you hear his guitar you know it's him. His guitar tone and his style's that well known. And the same with our thing, with the CYPRESS HILL combination — it's iconic, it's very well known. When you put that together, it's just like a recipe for success."
Morello also worked on another track for the album called "Shut 'Em Down".
The guitarist also has his own rap/rock act called STREET SWEEPER SOCIAL CLUB with Boots Riley of THE COUP.
Other guest rockers on "Rise Up" include vocalist Mike Shinoda of LINKIN PARK and guitarist Daron Malakian of SYSTEM OF A DOWN.
"Rise Up" is the first new album from CYPRESS HILL in six years and marks the beginning of a new record deal with Priority/EMI, to which they were signed by Creative Chairman Snoop Dogg.
